Green Habitat Solutions is a company formed out of a passion for adventure. With a 30 year background in Building & Industrial Design and Architecture, which nurtured a deep appreciation and understanding of the ancient principals of physics relating to Tension and Load -  it's not such a big jump to develop a love and admiration for the simplicity and practical elegance of  the traditional Mongolian Yurt - but turning it into a business, was.

Back in 2002 Green Habitat Solutions was asked to research the possibility of using 6 Yurts for temporary accommodation as the basis for an Eco-tourist venture to be located on the windswept Antarctic Bellingshausen Peninsular.

It sounded wild but, yes, but Yurts had all the logical benefits and qualifications to meet the demands for this unusual project. Mongolia can be at times very much like the Antarctic. The logistics of getting 6 traditional Mongolian Yurts to this remote location within the time-frame was the real challenge.

So a 'Yurt finding' trip to Mongolia was on - and 10 weeks later there they were, in all their elegant glory, erected by some Russians nearby to their own humble transportable accommodation. Using ice screws and special webbing overlays they withstood those Antarctic conditions to house 50 amazed executives from all over the world.

This was the beginning of an rich and satisfying journey for Green Habitat Solutions and from this auspicious birth we have continued to bring into Australia an annual container load of Yurt kits of varying sizes to satisfy the wishes of our growing band of enthusiastic Aussie Yurters.
